The Barnwood Store / Barnwood Trays is a family-owned and operated business founded by Dan Vollmer. In 2012 Dan, a contractor by trade, responded to a bid to tear down a barn outside Bennington, NE. Originally the harvested timber was intended as new flooring for his house, but in the end they became barnwood trays.
The company has evolved over time and today we do more than trays. We’ve built wood accent walls, tables, benches, sliding barn doors, mantels, and more.
We’ve moved beyond barns, too. Old bleachers from Truman State University, shiplap from dilapidated early 20th-century homes, beams from factories—we love reclaiming wood from unique places.
We’ve been featured in Midwest Living magazine, Flea Market Style magazine, The Omaha World-Herald, and local CBS and NBC stations in Omaha, Sioux Falls, and Kansas City.
